Really liked the way she played. If given more opportunities, she will definitely grow in confidence and improve (not that I found her confidence level to be low, she played with a great mentality). It has been long enough, the combination of Ashwini/Sikki should be dissolved and they should be tried with other young girls. Ashwini/Castro might make a good pair for example.

Not a long term solution. Ashwini would soon retire and Crasto will be left hunting for a new partner.

Ashwini played some cool smashes in SudCup but had poor defense, Crasto/Ashwini will be better for this UberCup.
Not impressed by Panda at all.

For time being. If Aswini continues till paris, would go for this option. But still, unless or otherwise a coach come and split the pair, there is no other way, we could see the split. At present, all the old players including MS, they are enjoying the status because of their ranking. I hope these youngsters quickly gain the ranking so that they could qualify for all the BWF tournaments automatically. At present only Men's singles is the only area where we can expect youngsters to grow up in the ranking ladder quickly. Also, I want Tanisha pair too.
    Let's see.

2-3 years is fine for Crasto to mature. Better if Ashwini mentors her. And then we can find partner for Crasto later.

That's exactly what I meant, Ashwini or even Sikki (even though they really don't look like a good combination together) can atleast use their experience and knowledge in developing the young players. I can't say about Sikki but I do feel Ashwini is a good partner to play with, ever so encouraging whenever she's out there. Try different combinations for a while, let the youngsters gain some experience and reform the partnership's. I don't see any harm in that. Short term solutions are the need of the hour. If we find a positive short term solution we eventually will find a long term solution as well.
And with that, Ponappa/Reddy lost (as always) the match against Spain, a match they should have won comfortably.

I saw the match and there was clearly some issue with her movement. She was also mentioning the same to the coach at the break.
She lost by embarassing scores in last SC, but completed the match, don't think she retired because she was trailing.

Bansod's play level is quite low for a 20yo and to be next WS player after PV. Show sad state of WS in India.

    She has some skills but,
Poor pace, terrible backhand (haven't seen worse backhand), non-existant smash.

Aditi Bhatt played well against Busanan . But in the crucial stages of the game, even though she stepped onto the court with 11-9 in the decider, she was nervous made so many unforced errors coupled with Busanan's good play , she lost it with 15-21.

Tasnim Mir gives some hope. She has the pace and game style to be a top player.
Rarely we see an Indian WS player with such speed and aggression.

Like her idol TTY, Tasnim Mir made a lot of unforced errors trying to do too much with the shots. Hope she gets good support to achieve her potential.

Tasnim has wide range of strokes. She is moving extremely fast but making so many mistakes. Her forehand defense is a let down today.

India's training exercise at Sudirman and Thomas/Uber cup is over.

    Sudirman Cup Poor Planning
1.Minimum players selected 12 with no reserves.
All top teams had 16-18 players including reserves.
2.Team reduced to 10 when Satwik/Chirag pulled out.
3.Praneeth and Srikanth played XD. By not pairing Ashwini/Arjun Ashwini/Dhruv Tanisha/Arjun etc meant there was no intent of winning or moving past the group stage, India stood no chance of causing an upset. The team was designed to fail. Only doubles players should have played XD and more players including reserve players should have been selected.

    Thomas/Uber Cup
1.Srikanth/Praneeth were exempted from the selection trials and their performance was poor at the Sudirman cup and Thomas cup. There was no justification in exempting them from the trials. If they were made to play the trials and some upcoming players were selected in their place, it would have pushed each player to constantly improve and play their best. Even if the final outcome would have been the same, it would have given valuable match exposure and experience to upcoming players. It would have sent a clear message. No player can take their place for granted.
    2. The Uber team exceeded expectations by qualifying for the quarterfinals. Even with a fully fit Saina and Sindhu they wouldn’t have crossed the QF stage.
3.There is hope for the future of doubles with improved performances by the young MD and WD players. Arjun/Dhruv, Krishnaprasad/Vishnu Goud, Tanisha/Rutaparna, Gayatri/Treesa all played well and will get better with more match exposure.
5.WS gave a small ray of hope with Aditi Bhatt and Tasnim Mir. Aditi was the only player to take the match to 3 games against Thailand. Tasnim is just 16, we will get a better idea when she is 19 of how she will shape up.
