I don't even feel the need to respond to stupid tennis comparisons with Saina. And this is the last time I will respond. So let me go into a little more detail. Nobody here said that ranking is more important than titles. At least I didn't say so. But ranking is a good indicator of one's consistency. Saina has been in top 5 consistently for nearly 6 years now. Also, comparing Saina with Li Na makes at least a little more sense than comparing her with say Jankovic. Na made tennis popular in a country which has not been traditionally a tennis power house. Similarly Saina has made badminton popular in India. Of course Saina's achievements in badminton are obviously greater than Na's in tennis. Na never won a Olympic medal which Saina did and Na only won 2 GS compared to Saina winning 3 different SSP(China once, Denmark once, Indonesia 3 times) Saina won 9 superseries where generally all the big names play. I would like to see what Jankovic or Wozniacki has won in a tournament where ALL the big names were present. Superseries pays the highest money in badminton. Don't compare superseries with WTA and ATP tournaments which pays peanuts compared to grand slams. If Saina didn't win AE, SSF or WC, then Na also never won wimbledon or US open which are genrally the biggest prize money tournaments in tennis and wimbledon is undoubtedly the most prestigous. Saina at least reached the finals of AE and SSF. Na didn't in wimbledon and USO. http://www.tsmplug.com/tennis/prize-money-of-all-grand-slams-which-is-highest-paying/ In fact, Saina won 2 of the top 4(the other 2 being won by TTY and LXR) prize money tournaments of 2014. Yes , Saina collected as much money as a champion in 2014 as did LXR. Prize Money, ranking points and frequency/rarity of a tournament(like olympics being held only once in 4 years) are objective measures, as opposed to a vague notion of "prestige" which is fairly subjective. All England may have history, but no non-Chinese has ever won the China Open apart from Wong Mew Choo and Saina. And Saina of course has less fans in China than WMC. That alone should indicate the difficulty of China SSP. China SSP>>All England SSP as far as I am concerned. And Susi Susanti is on a different level all together. At her prime she was OC, WC and AEC all at the same time. But Tine Baun is somewhat comparable to Saina. Yes, Tine Baun achievements are so far greater than Saina's, but Saina isn't that far behind and she is still young. Saina even has a positive H2H record against Tine, and she is the one who eliminated Tine in London Olympics. In fact, Saina has a positive H2H record against all players currently in top 20, except for WYH and LXR. With all this talk about "major" in badminton, I went and checked what bwf defines as "major" they are: 1>Olympics(Saina has bronze) 2>World Championships 3>World Junior Championships(Saina has gold) 4>Thomas Cup(Saina can't play because she is female) 5> Uber Cup(It's a team event. Saina was undefeated in 2014. It's not her fault that India lost) 6> Sudirman Cup(Once again a team event. You can't blame Saina) So realistically WC is the only "major" event where she hasn't done anything remarkable. Please don't bring Thomas&Uber cup or Sudirman cup into these as they are team events. This post makes more sense than the last ones. And I agree that I would love to see Saina win more important titles.
Yeah, I find that celebration and VIP things are rather elaborate. And the VIP like the limelight. Even when during the matches, the camera will focus on the VIPs when they arrived late and takes their seats. Also, I think in between breaks on one of the matches, the stadium announcer announce that theVIP was leaving.
yeah, which was not required at all. .even they were felicitating the VIP's during the mid game interval's which was ridiculous to me.
and my fav GC doing her thing. .probably saying oh my goodness me not the very clear pictures though as GC was sitting far far away but still, we love GC
Ah, I think you zoomed in too much. I wanted to see the commentary box, not GC. I wanted to get an idea of it's location and distance with respect to the court. Do you have any such picture of the commentary box?
womens singles, saina vs inthanon, a match for which almost whole crowd was waiting for, a very thrilling atmosphere it was inside the hall. .saina's power and inthanon's grace, it was a perfect mix and a treat for the crowd to watch. following are some pictures of the match.
The only thing I didn't liked in IO is they didn't offered trophy to the winners... Syed modi although is a GPG offered a gorgeous trophy
