JR/LP win in straight games 21-19 21-16. Some good rallies in there, but as stated the rallies were generally short, ML made quite a few errors in particular, so not a great deal of Excitement though. Congrats to JR/LP though European Champions!!
Yes....Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen finally won the European Championships title, to add to their World Championships 2003 collection. They beat Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen 21-19, 21-16.
It is, Eriksen/Lundgaard were the 3-time defending champion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Badminton_Championships
Match point... The top seed Kenneth Jonassen beat teammate Joachim Persson 21-13, 21-16 for his first European singles title. Xu Huaiwen came from one set down to beat Tine Rasmussen of Denmark 12-21, 21-12, 21-17 for her second straight women's championship.
look at the emotions and power... on Jonassen's face. after many years of shadowing Peter Gade in the European Championships... congradz... i pretty sure he really really wanted this title. well... i am waiting for the videos on this.
Finally, KJ did it! First time to become European Champion and don't forget he's also Europe MS number one based on BWF WR. Surprising victory created by Xu Huaiwen to beat All England Champ, local pride Tine. Three individual titles plus mixed team triumphant for Denmark marks this country is still the best in Europe, Congratz!
European Singles players . Not unexpected results... In Europe, the Singles events have been dominated by PG, KJ and PW (in Mens), and PHY, TR and XHW (in Womens). Congratulations to KJ and XHW. .
It would be more memorable if he actually beat PG during the event. On the side, did KJ ever beat PG before? How many they have encountered on international circuit? I think KJ and PG is much like LD and BCL of China, but maybe even worse for KJ. Nevertheless, congrats to all the winners.
KJ beat PG in the danish nationals 2004. That's the last time he beat him. When they were both young, KJ had a positive statistic against PG, but that changed when PG became on of the top shuttlers of the world. BWF head to head statistics show PG is 11-1 up against KJ. KJs only win was at Irish International in 1995!! If you add all the results at danish nationals, danish league matches and Copenhagen Masters, the score is maybe 20-3 for PG at senior level
Peter Gade won the 2006 Singapore Open... Kenneth Jonassen was the silver medalist of that event. LCW didn't play that tournament. KJ beat Chen Hong to get into the finals... and PG beat Chunlai BAO at semis.
Maybe that's have something to do with luck. I remember Gade won Malaysian Open right after he got his hair shaved.
Yeah he also won the Copenhagen Masters before that... hahaha... I think I should shave my head too for good luck. Wong8Egg, you with me on this?
