Men Chen Long Lin Dan Wang Zhengming Fu Haifeng Zhang Nan Cai Yun Lu Kai Hong Wei Chai Biao Xu Chen Liu Cheng Tian Houwei (R) Liu Xiaolong (R) Qiu Zihan (R) Women Li Xuerui Wang Shixian Wang Yihan Zhao Yunlei Yu Yang Wang Xiaoli Ma Jin Tang Yuanting Bao Yixin Sun Yu (R) Tian Qing (R) Tang Jinhua (R)
There are still Li Xuerui and the two Wang in action, just don't see how can Sun Yu supplant their positions at the moment good for Sun Yu that now she takes over Liu Xin. After all the ups and downs faced by the Chinese team within the last 12 months (and there were more downs than ups), they still have a pretty sound lineup for this Sudirman Cup. Their strong contenders will be INA, KOR and JPN, but for those teams to be able to turn the tables on this event, it will still be an uphill battle for them.
Zhang Nan and Xu Chen could play for MD for the surprise element. That's assuming if Xu Chen isn't playing in mixed doubles.
Nah!! ZN will be too tired in that case!! Hmm CY/FHF seems good can't wait to see them messing up with LYD/YYS And now another query arises about WD any ideas? My vote goes to MJ/TYT
No matter who play MD, they will have a hard time beating INA and KOR. And both INA and KOR have strong XD. So ZN better stays at XD only against these 2 teams. The other 2 teams that may give Chinese MD trouble are Taiwan and Malaysia. But they don't have strong XD, I guess XC/MJ or LC/BYX can handle them easily and let ZN plays some MD.
Zhang Nan won't necessary play in two events depending on who they are playing against. If China is up against weaker XD pairs, Zhang Nan will get the chance to rest and focus on MD. Many possible pairings for WD. Wang Xiaoli/Zhao Yunlei Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua Tang Jinhua/Tang Yuanting Tang Yuanting/Wang Xiaoli Tang Yuanting/Yu Yang Ma Jin/Wang Xiaoli Ma Jin/Tang Yuanting Tian Qing/Tang Yuanting Except Indonesia, Japan and Korea, a random Chinese WD pairing chances of winning are very high. When playing against Indonesia, Japan and Korea, chances are China will use familiar WD pairings. Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei, Yu Yang/Wang Xiaoli, Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua could play.
Personally I think even Kor pair aren't a threat these days.. The only pair who can literally compete is MM/AT and WXL/YY isn't a good opt... And WXL/ZYL seems unrealistic as they'll field ZYL in XD(most probably) so I think it should be MJ/TYT (TQ and JT are just in (R) list)
couldnt see why the Chinese team wont be able to take home 10th title, XD they have imo all time strongest pair ZN ZYL and MS with LD and CL too strong, not many threats at WD and WS either, MD if FHF will play with ZN could be easy gold this time
Agree, too bad Denmark is facing sponsor conflict as most of their core members have been excluded. KOR team is the toughest foe for China as they often face off in Sudirman Cup event in previous editions.
I would disagree a bit this time Clely, Kor team isn't even a match for CHN this year. With not the same SWH(as compared to AG), never to appealing SJH. With so inconsistency in XD and without any HQ WD pairing this team stands alone with LYD/YYS even they have shown wild swings lately. I think its surely 4-1 and if the MD pair come to their worst and faulter under pressure it can be a white wash. JPN on the other hand seems to be better. AT/MM can drain all the steam from the engines of CHN ladies and HE/KH are considerably well. If CHN plans to stick with the conventional pairings (ZN/ZYL in XD which means no ZN in MD) it can be 3-2 for JPN. INA also seems to be weaker this year. TA/LN don't stand a chance against formidable ZN/ZYL that to on home soil. MA/HS are so unpredictable but of course they can still deliver the only point in this tie.
Btw, what's the role of "Reserved" (R) players in Sudirman Cup? Does it mean that a team can field any of them only and if only any player from the main list is not able to play, e.g. because of injury etc?
