I can see frustration seeping in for Rian/Alfian. Leo/Daniel are leading 11-6 at the interval of the rubber-set.
While the other pairs are going back home, Leo/Daniel will be the only MD pair to continue their journey to Taipei next week, seeded no 2. They still lead 16-12.
This new service rule is so frustating because you really don't know whether the service judge was right or not
Remember yesterday when Ahsan admitted to touching the shuttle, camera cant catch it. If not, LeoD wont win the title too but after seeing the QuarterFinal, always thinks LeoD stands the best chance of winning bcoz Fajri looks tired that match and Daddies on back to backs.
Congrats LeoDaniel! 1st ever WT title and not just WT title but S500+ title which some of the more established pairs yet to win.
Not a bad result for fajri, they're clearly tired from all these tournament in the last 5 weeks. INA MD has been dominant, but they still hasn't prove they can deliver in big events (WC&OG) except for ahsan/hendra, let's see if it change this year.
3 years after winning the Badminton Asia & World Junior Championships in 2019, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin win their first major Super 500 title in this week's Singapore Open 2022, despite losing the first-set 9-21. They fought bravely with Leo having to endure an injury and they eventually take the second set and decider by beating their senior Fajar Alfian/Mohd Rian Ardianto 21-14, 21-16. An excellent progress after the victory 2 months ago by winning the SEA Games Gold Medal. Will Herry IP break them up by pairing Daniel Marthin with Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo?? An interesting thought indeed.... I personally felt it's a waste to let Leo play only MD as he combines well with Indah Cahya Sari Jamil (who's only 20 this year) during the junior days. He should probably return to play XD if Daniel is paired with Kevin. Indah is a gem to be wasted by having no pair.
Ginting seemed to have lost focus a bit when he was leading 12-6; letting Naraoka catching up and even have set-pt at 20-19. Luckily, the Japanese returned wide at crucial times and Ginting took the first set 23-21.
The one he currently has with him? That would be Imabeppu Kaori, the B team coach. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
Congratulations to Anthony SInisuka Ginting for winning his first World Tour title since January 2020, right before Covid struck! He was trailing 14-16, before a 6-pts streak that brought him to match pt and then winning the match beating Kodai Naraoka 23-21, 21-17. 3 titles for Team INA, very nice indeed!
Ginting looked very emotional after winning match, thrashing his racket! Understandably so as his form was very wretched since the Tokyo Olympics last August!
