Noticed this, too! It seems this way. I would still like a level laser with the service judge having the right wavelength goggles on better. With the right camera filter you can see it too, and have challenges?
Maybe this 15 cm room... is to attach cameras in between later? To help? Hopefully so. Now, it is really so, that we, as an audience, (or even the other umpires) have no idea what the service umpires see.
Let's keep in mind that under the old service rule, not even the service judge was able to actually see what he was supposed to make his judgement on (lowest rib). It was nothing but professinal guessing with big bets. Good move to increase the distance between the two plates to reduce parallax errors. Only god knows why they needed almost a full season to come up with such a simple improvement though.
Lol, you really discuss about lights and so on for the service...we all know that BWF is so broke that they can't record all courts and know they should use lights for improved service calls? Funny.
Well i did see that they also adds 2 small poles (screws?) to the transparent visors at the ends that are not attached to the poles. Maybe to add stability.. At least the worked on it.
The Thai Masters is the first one on the BWF WT calendar, so yes. Apparently, this idea of straight lines from two points is ancient tech, think Nazca. Ergo, separating them farther reduces the error in perception [Physics 201]. It is interesting to note that the newer vocabulary now has a warning or fault for hitting the service measuring device Moderator(s): Considering that the fixed height service device is a permanent fixture on almost all BWF events, perhaps the 'experiment' in topic heading should now be removed.
