The Thomas Cup semi-final second match tie between the MD1's of Malaysia and China restored China's pride when Cai Yun & Fu Haifeng defeated KKK & TBH convincingly, 21-16, 21-17, thus revenging Lin Dan's shock defeat by Lee Chong Wei in the opening tie. This was a great disappointment to the Malaysians as KKK & TBH were expected to win to give Malaysia a commanding crucial 2 points. MS2 Wong Choong Hann was not expected to win against the younger and WR3 Bao Chulai, neither was the erratic Hafiz Hashim at third singles against WR4 Chen Jin. And even had the MD2 pairing of young Zakri and Tazari, as replacements over their higher-ranked vetaran compatriots, Tan and Lee, won, it would mean Malaysia would still lose by 2-3. So all eyes were on KKK and TBH, but alas they failed, not even winning a single game from the Chinese! This time it was Z and T who restored some of Malaysia's pride.
