Why isnt Taufik, Chen Hong and Bao Chun Lai here ? Their teammates are all contesting in this tournament. In my opinion, the toughest first-round tie should be the one btw Simon and Ng Wei. And the semi-final most likely will see Sony against Peter Gade and Lin Dan against Xia Xuanze. I predict the winner to be Lin Dan.
The toughest first-round tie surely is the one btw Thomas and Peter against Liu and Albertus. If nothing goes wrong for the second seeds, Alven Yulianto and Luluk Hadiyanto in the first round, they will face former teammate Tony Gunawan and Howard Bach in the second. It will be a tough match and I am curious about the scoreline. In the quarter-finals, Lars and JR will meet Robertson and Clark. Chances are 50-50. In the semi-finals, the winner will most likey face Jens and Martin. Since there isnt any strong opposition at the bottom half, Luluk and Alven will meet Sang and Zheng. I really cant predict the title-winner. I really want to see what Indonesia is up to. Candra, Halim, Sigit, Trikus, Flandy and Eng Hian have been absent for the Dutch and Denmark Opens. Are they being regrouped like Halim with a new partner ? If so, I really want to see a return of Candra and Sigit. Morever, Trikus and Flandy are already 30. They should be retiring soon. Indonesia are also sending young players for this tournament and the notable ones are Markis and Hendra Setiawan, Hendra Gunawan and Joko
Pi Hongyan Number one seed?? where are gong zhang zhou mia ???... etc It will be her best chance for winning a 5* =p but ... it's last tournament for camilla .. she'll do her best normally we'll see a semi finals between PI (fra) vs XU (ger) and XIE (chn) vs MARTIN (den) i wish to see PI vs MARTIN .. but i don't think hongyan will win
A going away present from the China team perhaps? Lets see if the lovely Pi Hongyan can live up to her seeding in this tournament. at the moment im not sure who to root for
Should be intresting to see how the CHN womens singles do, they have three of the second choice playing.
don't know since when Tony Gunawan resumed his participation in international matches? We must see some good MD matches in this tourney. I had read somewhere that he'd gone for his studies in US. so I assumed that he'd called it a day. jamesd20, is nanning a different place than beijing? when did u shift?
I just saw the draw for the mensdoubles in this thread, and i think it is the wrong one because the one wich is on worldbadminton.net is different. Please check the one on worldbadminton.net for the correct draw. TL
Tony is trying to bring up the level of US badminton as a player/coach. We are very lucky to have him. He played in and won the last three US Open Men's Doubles competitions, 2002 with Bob Malaything, 2003 with Bob Malaythong, 2004 with Howard Bach. He also won 2003 US Open Mixed Doubles (2002 as well i think...against simon archer) with his wife and got to quarterfinals of 2003 Indonesia Open with Bob.
Yes, but only about 1000miles . "shifted" yesterday on a 30 hour train journey. Nanning is ion the south of China (Nan means south) Beijing is in the north (Bei means north). I like to keep people posted on the location, will be "shifting" back to UK on the 28th Oct.
