maybe u didnt watched that match, TR suffered a minor ankle injury during the 2nd set, that is why TR didn't want to push her right leg too hard after that. After the 2nd set rest, and playing the 3rd set she found it wasn't too serious, she again played hard like the 1st set. lydia do have some good skills as she is tallest MAS WS i have seen also helped too but she is inconsistence. She smashed too many easy shots into the net.
Lydia still has quite a long way to go to catch up with the others . Lydia still has quite a long way to go to catch up with teammates WMC and Julia Wong, let alone catching up with other top world ranking players. But slowly defeating others (one at a time) would surely give her more confidence. She now knows that she can make it there if she wants to. IMHO, there is less pressure for her at this tournament. It's not like BAM is insisting that she must perform well here. .
i watch the match twice,my 0.001 sen because there is many interesting comment on it the 1st time i watch,i purely enjoy it i did some record and observation in 1st set lydia tine unforce error 14 3 outmoved 1 4 smash winner 4 4 net winner 0 1 forced error 1 0 i would say,the unforce error is the main difference in 1st set. in 2nd set lydia tine unforce error 13 13 outmoved 2 5 smash winner 2 3 net winner 0 0 forced error 0 1 well,i had read comment about tine injured at 7-8,and i do watch it over and over again(more than 20 times) base on my 6 years wushu training experience(which involve many movement) and psychic,i cant see how tine would have injured by that 1st,she reduced more than 70% of her momentum when her ankle step on the floor for that move(the break that all player know how/why to do) 2nd,everyone learn about momemtum before would know not much of the remain (less than)30% momentum can damage her ankle, because she is still moving forward 3rd,her ouch(from face expression) was after she finish moving to the front and my guess is,she was pain because her leg need to stretch for almost a full split(like what wmc always do) when she cant perform that(i can tell because i went through the pain to enable me to perform a full split in my wushu career) i cant see she have any problem moving to return the shuttle in the very 1st rally after that incident she is doing well, but she just doing more unforce error in 2nd game(which she was also famous in after the defeat to wyh when she was wayyyyyyyy infront) both player had the same amount of unforce error and the winning shots play the role here, which lydia scored more, thats what i can see 3rd set lydia tine unforce error 10 6 outmoved 0 2 smash winner 2 4 net winner 0 1 forced error 6 0 tine is playing as well as(if not better than the 1st set),which the 9th rally of the 3rd set play the key role lydia was run out of stamina and idea after that rally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- afterall, feel free to comment, this is mine humble opinion all the stat is base on personal guild line, smash into net+wrong judgement was included in unforce error it will be endless arguement/debate/discus about is the smash at the net because of a weak lift is a net winner or smash winner for the player who smash,or it was an unforce error for the one who made a weak lift under non-forced situation, right? the obvious example is i can only found 2 net winner out of the 102 points but the stat in tv shows net points tine 3-2 lydia at after tine won the 5th point in 3rd set. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- my comment on lydia, she outmoved tine 11 times and this show she have some pretty racket skill but the unforce error is damaging as usual she still need to work hard on stamina, speed and the precise of returning the shuttle. she was mostly in the position to return the shuttle but she failed to do so thats why i think, yes, she have court coverage problem but that is not contribute to her unforce error i can see she is breathing hard in 3rd set, partly because of weather but mostly because her stamina if ur lung capacity is big enough,u will have less problem to play in a cold or a very high place the amount of oxygen breathe in determine how much u can think, because your entire body need oxygen when u are playing badminton on court,u cant think at all if u cant get enough amount of oxygen transported to ur brain when u cant think properly,u wont able to place/guild the shuttle in the correct place,u can only react naturally to return the shuttle(just return without any tactic or skill) those who play badminton should have experience this(if ur stamina is not good, like me:crying:) improving her speed and stamina will help her alot in future smashing power is not a problem to her i think, tine only score 3 more points than her will find some time to watch mak/tan vs lp/jr because someone in this thread comment that they are decent pair
well i guess no 2nd time review is needed what i can say is,the 5 flick serves from the danes and a couple more serves from the malaysia pair is as high as,if not higher than 4 mak hee chun serve that been called fault. he is clever to call on mhc,he is known as quite hot temper even gillian clark comment that:that is an odd defination and also the change of call from the line judge from in to out well,i dont believe any player would ask for serve judge or line judge help so as the danes, they are one of the figure in md,2003 wc and there is no such need for the denmark ba ask the line judge or serve judge to do so what in my mind is,thats the problem of the line judge and the serve judge too patriotic well,my word is its a good learning lesson for mak hee chun(19)/tan wee kiong(20) if they want to made it big in future an early learing lesson is always better next time, change ur anger in to power and will dont just face and try to learn in 25 years old(like lcw) hope there wont be any quote saying copenhagen is nothing to do with lcw again
Great analysis, limsy. I haven't seen the match but I like Lydia's self belief ('I know I always stand a chance to win' in her youtube interview.) and her excellent self-talk that YJ may have the advantage of experience but she has the advantage of youth. In that match, youth won over experience. In the making of a champion, my observation has been there has to be some period (varies with players) of inconsistency before consistent wins. This usually is because of inexperience and sufficient match exposure is necessary for consistency. Lydia is a long way from reaching the experience threshold but the more tournaments she gets to go, the earlier she will breach that threshold. She is luckier than MAS MS young guns because MAS WS have only two but MAS MS, there are some 10 to juggle and decide for tournament exposure.
well considering she is playing without her coach at the age of 20 the improve in her game play in 2 days time is considering very good already
oh i watched the match between mk/hs vs boe/morgensen 3 service fault were called on mk. 2 at 2nd set where the score was 18-21 gillian clark mentioned that boe serve is higher than mk no offense
You can also download it : http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79453 Every tournament, there will be people uploading in the vid sharing thread
Thanks, I watched it from badmintonfreak. As for the video from badcentral, previously I tried to download but I don't know how to install and watch. Anyway, it's alright.
just finish watching dicky vs peter gade so dicky hold a 2-1 head to head against peter gade now dicky was in great form still waiting dicky vs cwf and joj
just watched the group match between lydia cheah and tr well i think lydia lack of awareness and urgency in replying the shuttle and caoch should use a new method to train lydia as what is saw her center of gravity is not physical enough i dont see tr/wyh facing this problem coach need to get rid of it
yes, have to agree with you that dicky was in great form that tournament. I could spot it since his 1st match against Chong Wei feng tho he lost to jan o jorgensen later on in the final.
