Wang Yihan is such a complete player, an all-rounder in attack, defence, and counter-attack. That's the WYH we know without the nagging knee problem. I sense Juliane showing some frustration when she couldn't get her attacking shots through WYH's solid defence today, mostly in G2 when she even served wide and mistimed a return shot.
Agreed. Additionally, WYH attacking play was good enough to generate outright winners, negating one of JS strengths which is her retrieving ability. WYH's physicallity surprised me today, with her height advantage and strength I couldn't help but be reiminded of Chen long. The AE is going to be very interesting.
You bet. Especially with all stops pulled, meaning there's gonna be no letting matches go by anyone. We'll see how well the Chinese MD teams really measure up against the Koreans, should they meet again. Same thing last year where LYD/JJS lost to Hong Wei/Shen Ye in Germany, but destroyed them in the All England. Maybe the huge amount of videos they all took will help analyze their opponents further as well (China was constantly filming all courts on QF day, while Korea seemed to choose certain matches only.) I'm very interested in how the MD plays out, should be a real treat this year (as opposed to 2010 and 2011, where the SF and F stages were actually pretty lame).
I attended one of the earlier rounds at 2011 World Championships at Wembly Arena, when I went to my assigned seat the Chinese team had set up a Camera and Tripod on it ...true story
To be honest when I typed that I was only thinking about whether the first consonant was pronounced like a (english) Y or a J.
There should be some Germans by nationality who take French names, especially those in areas near Strasbourg, where the borders had been changing hands for some time. But there is a French Julienne pronounced with a J, so I guess Julianne should be with the Y.
Surprise Coincidences !!! This tournament is full of surprises. Of all the No.1 seeds, only CL survived to win his MS. The others were all knocked out in the earlier rounds. Except for the last match in XD, when both pairs are unseeded, all the other winners are seeded higher than their opponents. Somehow no upsets here! And strangely, all the four earlier completed matches have players or teams with consecutive seedings of 1 to 8. Bomoh or not, no wonder JS still lost in front of her home crowd!
anders kristiansen needs to learn to control his emotions...needs to be exposed to more tournaments...he gets nervous very easily..
I have to say this tournament was really great. Amazingly good organized. This lap of honour is a great idea. Badminton needs to get more personal, showing the players as characters. Just look how the Koreans smiled when walking around, giving high-fives to the audience. There could be so much more done to get more insight in our sport. The badmiton world magazine is quite good, but would like to know more about our "idols and heroes" ^^ Well, next week many more hours of watching badminton on the screen are coming, hopefully the livestream will work smoothly. And the week after some live badminton in Basel, love these weeks, even I couldn´t attend the AE bc of a matchday :/
