Which other strings are there in that same category other than BG80? Feeling = Hard Texture = Rough Thank you
Zymax 66F, very rough (sandpaper like) but not as hard as BG80 Gosen GT5, rough abit harder but still not like BG80. NG80 is unique string itself.
Aerobite Boost is a really grippy string. I had to adjust my slice action b/c it was cutting so much compared to my usual grippy Zymax 62. It is labelled hard and has good repulsion. But doesn’t feel the same as BG80, if that is what you are looking for. At my low-level of play, this string has been a fun one to try. But hard-hitters playing at high tensions might break this string pretty quickly.
Gosen G-tone 58 has a very hard feeling and cuts in to the shuttle like nothing i have ever tried. Feels much harder than bg80 at 25-27. Durability is quite low beeing 0.58mm thick.
Aerobite Boost is the only string I tried that feels as hard as (or harder than!) BG80. But it has a different grip, more rubbery. Victor vbs in a .68 size is supposed to be very similar. Softer but similar grip feeling: Zymax 68TX BG80 Power I do not agree with the Zymax 66 of 69 Fire suggestions, they are way smoother than BG80.
65 TI for sure. I will try vbs68 in a few months and hope it's can replace BG 80. BG 80 durability is so poor
Does the Zymax 66F string give a hard feeling if I string it 1 or 2 lbs tighter than BG80?. Is that how it works ? A soft or medium feeling string, can it give a hard feeling at higher tension?.
Thread context: Why Hard feel? I like to feel the bird the moment it comes to contact with the bed Why rough Texture? The string being non-slippery gives an extra fraction of a second for the feel/control/placement
Yes & no. Yes higher tension mean the string are tighter which mean harder feel. No as it feel different. Not sure how to describe it but maybe abit of story. Long ago i tried friend Voltric DG racket strung at 30++ lbs. Tho im ok with my games, but i cant help feeling like playing with frying pan which i dont like. Then when i tried my BG80 at 27lbs (my regular tension), it feel harder than my prev thin repulsive string i had ever tried but still enjoyable.
tbh, if you are really looking for a BG80 equivalent, you can skip the effort to hunt for pretty much all of those. 66F is FAR off target imo. Medium hard feel on impact at best and a lot smoother than BG80. GT5 is a tad closer but still in no way comparable to BG80. BG80 is an alien. If you like it, then just stay with it and save yourself the time and effort for the experiments.
For me Zymax 68tx was rougher than BG80. Bg80 definitely harder. What is the roughest one, independent of the hardness?
I have a racquet with vbs68. The shuttle slides a bit more than BG80 Aerobite boost has good grip. Mine doesn’t break very quickly.
