What a nail biter in the third set, Ko still hitting like a tank. He may not be as powerful as he was in his younger years, but I still wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of his smash
Tough luck. But at least they've reached the semifinals this time around. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Wow.. hats off to korean old pair. I thought they wont last. They did. Amaxing. Kudos to them. Respect the former wc. Dun play play. They need more to create netting or chances for the power kill. Malaysians back to drawing board to win 1st title.
Or go meditate with the likes of LD to improve mental astuteness. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Feels like the last 10-15 points the Korean pair just giving initiatives away, they look like they arent going to last. AaronSoh should have put them away, then they gain confidence after saving a few MatchPoints.
I guess anything could happen in sports ... Tmr final will be really interesting ... too bad I don't have Japan WD to watch But at least Yuta and Arisa is playing!! My prediction: Winners: CTC, Lee/Shin. Akane, Yuta/Arisa, ... MD no idea
within the halls of bwf it is known as 'the china rule'... no other team blatantly manipulated the rankings via walkovers than china. the rule was voted in by all member associations. however, the rule wouldn't be nec'y if badminton wasn't run as a quasi team sport. a stupid system will always require stupid rules to mask the stupidity of the system. what more can you expect from bwf, the stupidest governing body of the int'l sporting world.
tanboonheong already told aaron/soh don’t ganjiong which means don’t be nervous, when nervous confirm lose one, see Ko/Shin they seems no ganjiong at all…
I think they did OK already,if you think about it most of the top players also lost in the early rounds, but they made the semifinals,it's a good achievement. Sent from my SM-A307GN using Tapatalk
Morten mentioned that Misaki and her partner got the point back when she retired playing in Japan open against another Japanese pair due to what he called as an obvious sign of injury Do you have any information how exception could occur back then?
i'm not against waivers to 'rules' at all, but... ...the waivers/exceptions and who makes the decision need to be published. when and what constitutes a waiver/exception? who decides when a waiver/exception is granted? bwf has not been transparent in this regard.
Even I am wondering. If they were awarded points, then what's the point in forming rules. And also, if they are awarded, what could be the criteria by which they are deciding to award points. As a former tournament director, could you please try to discuss with your contacts to elaborate us ?. This will be valuable information for all of us. As this forum gives insights of so many details about badminton, I am so much benefited from it. Thanks in advance
Another title for Korean women's doubles pair in Paris, they're practically unstoppable including to subdue toughest test in this tournament, Japanese opponent in semifinal with two straight games. A rematch of last edition final where Lee/Shin beat Kim/Kong in regular close contest, it seems Stade Pierre de Coubertin offering lucky ground for them Chou Tien Chen huge motivation defeated his extreme tiredness, just surprising to witness this 31 years old player survived at the end to avenge his defeat against the well-improved Heo Kwang Hee, the Taiwanese played more effective attacking shots to reduce many grueling rallies that could absorbed energy much. Chou has good prospect to reclaim French Open title, same venue when he stole attention seven years ago that became cornerstone of his career as one of top 10 players. Meanhwile a disappointment for local spectators following two-time World Champion Kento Momota conceded retired, accumulated fatigue and injury has thwarted the world number one to complete the match, obviously he endured back pain started from late stage of opening game. First ever top-tier tour for Kanta Tsuneyama, head to head stats seems discouraging for Japan #2 against vast experienced Chou. BWF tournaments super hectic schedule causing a string of elite players suffering injury then retired, disadvantage for badminton fans and players themselves, just hope a better condition in next year transition into normalcy. Akane Yamaguchi is the clear favourite to nail back to back title in Europe tour, once again she played smartly to outwit the steady An Se Young, controlling the pace despite the Korean put so much trouble with her deep forehand shot many times that forcing Yamaguchi retrieved shuttlecock wasn't perfect and off position. 29 years old Takahashi conquers reigning World Champion, her court coverage, agility and defense aspect is better than the Indian player who seems lack of intensive training. One more match for the Minions to back on their winning way since the last victory they tasted in INA Masters 2020 (S500). A big surprise for the veterans Ko/Shin who being off the radar in quite long time but they cruising into last round here. Both finalists had similar difficult times to outlast their semifinal hurdles, three games and needed extra point to seal the match. Three points away for Aaron Chia/Soh WY to secure their final ticket but the Malaysians blew away the chances instead of former World Champions got the second wind to turn the tables. Thai duo are still allergic to Japanese aces dynamic style, lost once again despite had prospect to force rubber games, the creative Watanabe plays the vital role in last three points to reach second successive final of top flight event. A breakthrough for Danish mixed doubles who look struggling to find formidable pair after the retirement of Fisher-Nielsen/Pedersen perhaps they could expect Christiansen/Boje to carve something big in their career. It's Tang/Tse who produced numerous unnecessary mistakes that allowing the Danes to develop their attacking style, lethargic gesture and below par performance by HKG pair. FINAL ORDER OF PLAY
Japan really need a li yong bo type manager now. Wakaka. Just so stupid to kill each other. Kamikaze.
It's high time for the Minions to win a title indeed! It has been a very long time since they won their last individual title.
